iPhone OS 3.1 ?

Photobucket

so a few weeks after the release of OS 3.0 apple released beta versions of the improved 3.1 software. they are adding and fixing some cool features. the voice control will now work with bluetooth. you can now "save and copy" video clips letting you edit a video without messing up the original copy. they are improving the reboot and shut down making them go a little bit quicker. there is now a vibrate function when you go into arrange mode to stop unwanted app arrangements. some new fraud protection thing is now going to work on safari. last but not least you can copy and paste numbers into the phones dial pad. im not sure when this is supposed to come out but very likely when mms is launched.

tethering for iphone 3G and iphone 3GS

Alright guys this is super easy and i got this from tys iphone help so just go to tytube.net/att/ on your phones browser. then click update carrier and then install.  now you have internet tethering so go to settings/general/network/ then turn internet tethering on.  i can't guarantee that this will remain free forever but i can't see how at&t can charge you.

(if you don't know what internet tethering is, it means you can take your phones 3G or Edge connection and use it on a computer.)

Jailbreaking Fixes

Here are some common problems i'v come across and how i managed to fix them.

Ok so i hear people can't identify the proper ipsw using redsn0w. well most likely your best bet is to re-download the iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_restore.ipsw. if it comes in a zip file just rename as .ipsw. also remember to not download with safari, use firefox or explorer.

Now for the dreaded "waiting for reboot" error.  if it takes longer than a couples seconds without the loading bar moving then something is wrong. my phone was left in dfu mode and i had to reboot it. well i finally just went to my pc (i was using a macbook) and it went so i'm not sure. maybe just try it on a friends computer or try re-downloading everything. i'v heard rumors that you can reboot your pc under f8 and it helps it by putting it in safety mode but i havent tried.

Installing both cydia and icy.
(if it only gives you the choice for cydia then you need to download redsn0w 0.7.2 instead of just redsn0w 0.7.)

i heard from different blogs to only pick one but i got both. cydia wouldn't download anything at first and you'll get an error when you try to update the program.Cydia Pictures, Images and Photos
but if you run redsn0w again while it's jailbroken and only click cydia it will fix the problem and you will still have both on you're iphone/ipod touch.

if you have any other problems just comment under and i will give you some suggestions or ways to fix it.

OS 3.0 jailbreak

Alright i don't see what any of the confusion is about. theres plenty of videos explaining how to do this but basically just follow the instructions given by the software.  first download redsn0w and extract the file if you're on a pc. then open it and click browse. select the corresponding ipsw file for whatever device you're using. for me it was an iphone 3g so find iphone1,2_3.0_7A341_restore.ipsw.  continue on and select what you want put on you're phone such as cydia and/or icy if you're using redsn0w 0.7.2.  next make sure your phone is plugged in and turn it off. be ready to hold down your power button when you click next.  enter dfu mode and its pretty simple after that. if you have any questions just comment below.
